• Start a stress journal
• Participate in an enjoyable activity
• Stay active
• Eat a healthy diet

Wood Co. launching health study
Though Wood County ranked among the healthiest counties in the state according to a recently released County Health Rankings report, community leaders from across the county will meet later this month to identify and prioritize actions that can be taken to improve citizens overall health.

Wood County ranked 11th out of 88 in overall health compared to other counties in Ohio, according the County Health Rankings report released by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

The comprehensive report that ranks the overall health of nearly every county in all 50 states, assessing various measures that affect health, including death rate among those younger than 75, high school graduation rates, access to healthier foods, air pollution levels, income, smoking, obesity, and births-to-teens rates.

The rankings can help everyone in Ohio better understand that where they live, learn, work and play influences their overall health, according to Pat Snyder, Public Health Information Technologies Specialist with the Wood County Health Department.

The challenge for many communities is to figure out what makes a community healthy and what changes will lead to the most dramatic health improvements, Snyder said. To bridge that challenge, Wood County will launch a Community Health Improvement Project April 18.
