Mercy and Reed Vision have announced a partnership that has created Reed Vision by Mercy and the Mercy Eye Center.

Through the new partnership, Reed Vision will join the Mercy and the Mercy Eye Center, representing a new model of healthcare delivery that provides the combined expertise of both respected organizations.

Through the partnership, patients will have greater access to care and treatment should a medical problem arise involving their eyes, as Mercy physicians will collaborate with Reed Vision physicians, if necessary.

Through the Mercy Eye Center, located at the former Reed Vision Center on Monroe Street in Toledo, patients will have access to advanced procedural and diagnostic eye care systems.

“At Mercy, we pride ourselves in providing patients a single standard of care, throughout all of our facilities in Northwest Ohio,” said Andrea Price, president and CEO of Mercy. “We’re excited about the opportunities that Reed Vision by Mercy will provide for our patients and physicians and we are proud to be in partnership with the respected organization that Dr. Reed formed 19 years ago.”

Led by Dr. Stephen Y. Reed, Reed Vision offers comprehensive medical and surgical eye care services, including sub-specialties in laser vision correction, anterior segment, glaucoma, retina/posterior segment, pediatric ophthalmology and cornea/refractive surgery.

Reed Vision by Mercy has 10 ophthalmologists and optometrists operating out of five different locations in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. They provide treatment and care for such medical conditions as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and pediatric eye diseases.

For patients, the new partnership will mean enhanced access to a broad range of physicians and specialists.

“This  new partnership is the culmination of a decade-long dream of mine,” Dr. Reed said. “And the Mercy Eye Center is second to none. It is so advanced that it serves as a training location for physician residents from the Toledo area and all over the world.”

Dr. Reed began Reed Vision more than 19 years ago. He is nationally recognized for his work in laser eye surgery, serving as a national trainer for LASIK for more than five years. He was also recognized as one of the top refractive surgeons.

A board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Reed is a native of Monroe and a graduate of the University of Michigan. He completed his ophthalmic residency at Northwestern University and a glaucoma fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute.
