Ride held to benefit Sickle Cell Project of NW Ohio

The Ride to Benefit the Sickle Cell Project of Northwest Ohio, held Sept. 4, raised more than $1,200More than 80 motorcycle riders came out Sept. 4 for the Ride to Benefit the Sickle Cell Project of Northwest Ohio.

The kick-off to Sickle Cell Awareness Month, sponsored by Toledo and Signature Harley-Davidson, raised more than $1,200 for the charity.

The Sickle Cell Project of Northwest Ohio is a special project of the Neighborhood Health Association and is funded by a grant from the Ohio Department of Health. They provide counseling and education to families and individuals who are affected by sickle cell disease and trait, as well as other hemoglobin disorders. They also offer education and training for professionals, and work to increase awareness about sickle cell through outreach and community events.
