The 2009 Ottawa County Jr. Fair Royalty has enjoyed an exciting reign over thepast year.
The court consists of the King, Cory Sandwisch who will be a senior at Woodmore High School in the fall; Queen, Deminique Heiks, who attends Kent State University and will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in December; First Queen Runner-up Kayla Castillo, who attends The Ohio State University; the Second Queen Runner-up Sarah Harder, who attends the Agriculture Technical Institute of The Ohio State University.
The four court members traveled to several festivals and fairs throughout Ohio, attending local dinners, meetings and fundraisers where they were invited to speak about this year’s action-packed fair.

court members the opportunity to perform some community service for a great cause. The group worked at a booth in the event called Mandy’s Team, named for Deminique Heiks’ aunt, Mandy Harvey, who is battling stage-four ovarian cancer.
The group sold hot dogs, pop, water, snow cones and candy, raising more than $350, which was donated to the American Cancer Society.
The 2009 court’s reign ends on Monday July 19, 2010 at 8 p.m. when they will crown the 2010 court at a special ceremony.
