Vail Meadows event to benefit injured barn manager Donations of silent auction items are being sought for the Maumee Bay Buckle Series Speed Show that will be held May 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Vail Meadows Indoor Equestrian Center, 6118 Cedar Point Rd., Oregon.
All proceeds raised from the event will benefit Vail Meadows barn manager Micki Kohler, who was seriously injured in a horse accident April 28. Kohler, who sustained serious head injuries, has no insurance. A fund is being set up for Kohler through First Federal Bank.

Women’s health program Dr. Shabana Farooq of Mercy Health Partners will present a program on women's health issues May 22 at 1 p.m. at Genoa Trinity United Methodist Church, Main and 4th streets.
This event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Memorial motorcycle run Rayz Café in Genoa will host a motorcycle run in memory of Kathi Marleu, a former Oregon resident who passed away Aug. 11, 2009 at the age of 38 as the result of a brain aneurysm, on May 15. The rain date is May 22.
When Marleu died, she left behind her 3-month-old son Xander. The proceeds of the event will go toward a college fund for him.
Registration is at 10 a.m. The first bike will head out at noon. In addition to the motorcycle run, the event will also include 50/50 raffles and door prizes.
Grief support “Walk With Us” grief support group meets the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at New Harvest Church, 3540 Seaman Rd., Oregon.
For June, July and August, the first-Thursday-of-the-month noon meetings are cancelled. They will resume in September.

Saddle Up for a Cure The Tiki Warriors will be there. So will the Guardian Riders.
So far, 13 teams and 198 participants have signed up for Oregon’s Relay for Life, themed “Saddle Up for a Cure,” which will be held May 21 and 22 at Clay High School.
The event will kick of Friday evening at 6 p.m. Individuals and teams will camp out with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track or pathway at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising before the event, but some also hold creative fundraisers at their campsites during the relay.
Among the other events planned include a Survivor Reception, Luminaria Ceremony, “Cruisin’ for a Cure” Car Show, Cow Patty Bingo, music and performers, kids’ activities, vendors, a rummage sale (May 22 from 6 a.m. to noon) and more.
Relay for Life began in May 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon, took the first step of his 24-hour walk around a track in Tacoma, Washington, and raised $27,000 to support the American Cancer Society. Over the past nine years, Relay for Life of Oregon has raised $301,000 in support of the Cancer Society’s vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Occupational therapy training Serenity Farm, located at 21870 Lemoyne Rd., Luckey, will host a three-hour training for occupational therapists, assistants, riding instructors, horse specialists and medical personnel May 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Featured speakers Valerie Kluga, OTL/R and Debra DeHoff, NARHA, certified instructor, will discuss the benefits of therapeutic riding for clients.

Baby Shower Fair Changes for Life will hold a Baby Shower Agency fair May 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the East Toledo Family Center, 1020 Varland Ave., Toledo.

Safety & Health Day The 20th Annual Northwest Ohio Safety and Health Day will be held May 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Audio-Visual Building at Owens Community College.
The event will feature more than 20 informative and educational safety sessions in the areas of healthcare, construction, general industry, industrial health, OSHA more. Exhibits will provide a wide range of the latest solutions to workplace safety challenges and needs. Vendors will be available throughout the day. Speaker Charlie Morecraft, a former Exxon employee for whom on-the-job shortcuts almost cost him his life, will be the keynote speaker.
