Who wouldn’t want to be classified as a VIP?
The VIP Fast Track Clinic in the St. Charles Lab provides the convenience of a “one-stop shop” for patients who need to visit the lab for recurring blood draws.
The service allows patients to schedule their appointment, pre-register and have their blood drawn by the same person each time. The lab then sends the results directly to the patient’s physician. The office will report the results to the patient, and depending on the patient’s need, instruct him or her to set up the next draw and evaluate his or her medication level.
St. Charles Mercy Hospital put the VIP Fast Track service in place to enhance service to patients who need to have blood drawn regularly.
“Anyone who has a standing order can use the service,” said Cathy Samudio, registration specialist/phlebotomist. “Our VIP patients only have to go through Main Registration on their first visit. After that, they receive my business card and are instructed to call and give me the ID number on the back of the card and let me know the day they want to come in for their next draw.
“They don’t have to make an appointment for a specific time, and they can call three months ahead or the day before or even up to 6:30 a.m. the day they want to have their blood drawn,” she said.
The VIP Fast Track service can handle the lab-draw needs of up to 50 patients per day, Samudio noted.
The service is located directly across from the Outpatient Lab and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for blood draws.
