A Northwood man was killed May 28 after his Chevrolet Silverado struck another vehicle in Benton Township.
William Miller, 82, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle then crashed into a residence on State Route 579 near Elliston-Trowbridge Road. The house and vehicle were ablaze when emergency personnel arrived.
According to the Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Miller’s vehicle and a vehicle driven by Michael Lowe, 29, Oak Harbor, were westbound on Route 579 about 2 p.m. when Lowe slowed to turn left into the Blackberry Corners Tavern parking lot.

Miller failed to stop and struck Lowe’s auto in the rear end before continuing through a field and crashing into the house.
Lowe and a passenger, Sarah Opfer, 29, sustained minor injuries and were treated at St. Charles Hospital and released.
Troopers said the front half of Miller’s vehicle went into the house but no one in the home was injured.
