Bast to be honored by school board association
Richard Bast, a former board member of the Benton-Carroll-Salem Local School Board, will be presented with the Ohio School Boards Association’s Master Board Member Award at one of the association’s regional spring conferences.
The conference will be held in Milan March 15.
The Master Board Member Award is given to school board members who dedicate themselves to improving their skills and knowledge. Master Board Members must first earn OSBA’s Award of Achievement before being considered for the additional recognition.
New drug program
The Wood County Commissioners will announce a new discount prescription drug program for county residents March 1 at 9 a.m. The news conference will be held in the atrium of the Wood County Courthouse Complex.
James Carter, Grand Rapids, will serve as president of the county commissioners for 2012. Tim Brown, Bowling Green, will serve as vice-president.
The board will continue conducting regular meetings on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with an open forum on regular meeting days following regular business. The forum allows citizens to speak with the board without scheduling a meeting time.
The commissioners also plan to host town hall meetings in Fostoria, Pemberville, Perrysburg Township, Rossford, and Northwood.
