Five persons, including two East Toledo women, have been arrested on charges of solicitation and promoting prostitution after detectives from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department conducted a vice operation Wednesday at a North Baltimore hotel.
According to the sheriff’s department, charges of solicitation have been filed against three men:
• Charles Smith, Bluffton, O.
• Marc Akam, Lakeville, O.
• Mark Laudick, Fort Jennings, O.
Jamie Lynn Bishop, Yondota Street, Toledo, was charged with promoting prostitution and solicitation.
She is scheduled to appear Dec. 21 in Bowling Green Municipal Court for a preliminary hearing.
Brenda Wells, Oak Street, Toledo, was charged with solicitation.
A hearing for her case is scheduled for Dec. 28 in municipal court.
Both women were incarcerated as of last week, according to the sheriff’s department.
Timothy E. Bigham, 42, was charged with four counts of felony importuning after a month-long investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the sheriff’s department.
A search warrant was executed at Bigham’s residence with assistance from the Lancaster City Police Department and the prosecutors’ offices in Wood and Fairfield counties.
Regarding importuning, the Ohio Revised Code says:
“No person shall solicit another, not the spouse of the offender, to engage in sexual conduct with the offender, when the offender is eighteen years of age or older and four or more years older than the other person, and the other person is thirteen years of age or older but less than sixteen years of age, whether or not the offender knows the age of the other person.”
