State Representatives Dennis Murray and Randy Gardner will host a subcommittee field hearing of the Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee Dec. 9 to discuss the condition of Lake Erie.
The hearing, which will be open to the public, will include testimony of state officials and environmental experts. It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lake Erie Islands Regional Welcome Center, 770 S. E. Catawba Road, Port Clinton.
Rep. Murray (D- Sandusky) said the lake faces its most serious challenges in 30 year – algal blooms being the most visible.
Rep. Gardner (R- Bowling Green) said the hearing will be a chance to learn about the coordinated efforts the state is taking to address Lake issues.
Among those expected to testify is Jim Zehringer, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and a former director of the agriculture department.
