Primed for development
Following its recent certification as a Job Ready Site by the Ohio Department of Development, Wood County officials are calling a 400-acre site in Troy Township one of the “premier sites in the midwestern United States for industrial development.”

Tom Blaha, Executive Director of the Wood County Economic Development Commission, and Jerry Greiner, Executive Director of the Northwestern Water and Sewer District, presented the township board of trustees a certificate from the state recognizing the Job Ready Site designation of the Eastwood Commerce Center, which they are calling it in marketing efforts.

More than $7 million has been invested in the site by its owner, Dominion Energy, the water and sewer district, and state to extend water and sewer lines to the site on U.S. 20 near Pemberville Road.

Blaha said the site has easy access to the Ohio Turnpike, 30-inch natural gas transmission line capabilities, electrical and rail service, and a minimum of 500,000 gallons per day water and sewer capabilities.

“The water and sewer lines were the final items needed for development at this site,” Greiner said.

Blaha described it as a “ready to go mega site.”

“These are the kinds of super sites that our competition in the southern states can pull off the shelf when they get the inquiries from the Hyundais, the Boeings, and NuCors of the world. Now we’ve got one too.”
