The Aug. 13 burglary of a Woodville Road home in Lake Township by armed men appears to not to be a random act, Mark Hummer, township police chief, said last week.
He said evidence collected at the scene indicates the residence at 1539 Woodville Road was intentionally hit by three men who took a cell phone and cash.
“We are pursuing leads we have developed and at this point we don’t believe this was a random act,” the chief said. “The home potentially could have been targeted.”
An adult and three juveniles were in the home at around 9:47 p.m. when three males wearing ski masks entered and told the occupants they were police officers.
According to police reports, the intruders were black and wore dark clothes. Two of the men had guns.
Police Wednesday said a photo array of possible culprits was being assembled for the victims to examine.
In addition to charges of aggravated burglary, the men could be charged with impersonating police officers, Chief Hummer said.
Police said the adult and one of the juveniles sustained head injuries after being struck by the intruders.
Several incidents of thefts from trucks were also reported last week to township police.
• Seventeen tires were reported stolen Aug. 13 from trucks parked at the Rockland Truck Depot.
• A laptop computer, GPS unit, stereo, printer, and scanner were reported stolen Aug 12 from a truck parked at the Pilot Truckstop.
• A TV and binoculars were reported stolen Aug. 15 from a truck parked at the Petro Truckstop.
• Two GPS units were reported stolen Aug. 14 from a truck parked at the Travel Centers of America.
