State seeks options for leveraging turnpike The Ohio Office of Budget and Management and the Ohio Department of Transportation have announced they are seeking Letters of Interest for the development and evaluation of options for “leveraging” the Ohio Turnpike.
The process could include three phases. An analysis and review will be conducted to help determine a value of turnpike and the preferred option for leveraging it as a state asset.
If a private investment option is determined in the first phase to be the most beneficial course of action for the state, the team will then assist in phase two by developing an invitation for proposals and the process for selecting a final bidder.
In the third and final phase, the consultant will assist the state in the evaluation, selection, and ranking of the final bidders and then final contract negotiations.
Interested consultants are expected to organize and bid as teams.
The Kasich Administration said the teams must have expertise in engineering and legal/contract matters as well as financial analysis and public outreach.
Letters of Interest must be submitted electronically to ODOT by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Wood County Commissioner Tim Brown has been vocal in his opposition to the sale or lease of the turnpike and State Representative Randy Gardner has said he would oppose a sale of the turnpike.
Elections board to meet The Ottawa County Board of Elections will meet Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. to conduct the official canvass of the Aug. 2 special election.
A regular board meeting will be held at 2 p.m.
The board meets at 8444 W. State Route 163, Oak Harbor.
