Every year, almost like magic, a group of volunteers organizes and successfully pulls off the annual Pemberville Free Fair.

And the fact that no admission has been charged for the many decades of the fair is a trick akin to pulling a rabbit out of the hat.

So it seems appropriate then that this year's fair Aug. 17-20 has adopted the theme "Magical Moments."

Magician and comedian Michael Kent will peform Aug. 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the fair grandstand, followed by "Shout," a Beatles tribute performing from 8:30 to 11 p.m.

As in the past, there are sure to be many "magical moments" at the 2011 fair with special events like the contest patterned after the TV show "Deal or No Deal" , where anyone can enter for $1 a ticket and buy as many tickets as they wish for a chance to be called on stage to win $100,000.
