The next regular school board meeting will be June 28 at 6 p.m.

Bridge repairs authorized
The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners has approved several contracts for repairs to bridges.

R&I Construction, Inc., was awarded a contract for $502,790 for repairs to the Toussaint Creek Bridge on Billman Road and a $286,698 contract to repair a bridge that spans Sugar Creek at Hessville Road.

Change orders were also approved for contacts previously approved for other bridge projects. The commissioners authorized an additional expenditure of $13,629 to U.S. Bridge Co. for upgrades to a bridge on Billman Road over Cedar Creek.

Additional waterproofing was needed.

With the change order, the contract amount is $279,415.

Business burdens
In an effort to identify what he sees as  burdensome regulations, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) is requesting business owners in Ohio’s 5th Congressional District to visit www.AmericanJobCreators.com<http://www.americanjobcreators.com/>, where they can complete a survey and identify federal government regulations that impede their growth.

“My number one priority in Congress is to get Americans back to work. Government is not the answer for private sector job growth, but by removing government barriers, we can provide America’s job creators the certainty they need to grow their businesses and begin hiring again,” said Congressman Latta.

The U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy recently issued a report estimating that as of 2008 the cost of federal regulations was at $1.75 trillion annually, he said.
