Terra State Community College’s nominees, including an alumnus, a trustee and a business partner, were among those recognized at the 21st Annual Ohio Association of Community Colleges Excellence Awards in late May in Columbus.

Materion Brush Inc. of Elmore was one of four companies statewide to share the Outstanding Business Award, which honors businesses that have had a major positive impact on community colleges in Ohio. Among other contributions, Materion has partnered with the college to address two-year degrees that provide technical skills for people looking for careers in the skilled trades.

Current Terra State trustee Don A. Nalley, of Fremont, was one of three trustees to share the Richard N. Adams Educational Leadership Award, which recognizes commitment to and participation in trustee education and engagement.

Matthew Damschroder, of Lindsey, was a nominee for the Distinguished Alumni Award, which honors alumni who have demonstrated a passionate level of commitment to the community and higher education.
