D. Michael Collins, a life-long Independent who was elected as the next Toledo mayor on November 5, has announced the formation of his transition team and its director.
Mayor-elect Collins says Bob Reinbolt will serve as the director of his transition team. Reinbolt, who has a consulting business in Toledo, was an advisor to Collins during the campaign. Reinbolt served as chief of staff for former Toledo mayor Carty Finkbeiner.
The first transition team meeting was held Nov. 16 at The Maritime Academy of Toledo.
Reinbolt says transition team committees will include: Labor Relations — chaired by Toledo City Councilman George Sarantou; Neighborhood & Safety — chaired by Tom Kroma; Business Development — chaired by Patrick Kenney; Parks, Recreation, and Urban Beautification — chaired by William Franklin; and Media Relations & Special Events — chaired by Matt Zaleski. Approximately 40 people will serve on the various committees as part of Collins’ transition team.
Reinbolt says co-chairs for the Transition Team include Joan Uhl Browne, former Toledo mayor Carty Finkbeiner, former Toledo mayor Jack Ford, Patrick Kenney, George Tucker, Baldemar Vasquez, and Ray Wood. The honorary chair for the Transition Team is former Toledo City Councilwoman Betty Shultz.
“We must remember that Mr. Collins has a lot on his plate. He’s not only mayor-elect, but also still has duties as a Toledo city councilman for District Two. It is our goal to work with our committees and our transition team to help Mr. Collins set a foundation to work the platform presented during the campaign,” he said.
Dr. Jack Simonetti from the University of Toledo facilitated the first Transition Team meeting.
