County merges administrative posts
The Wood County commissioners have merged the duties of the assistant county administrator with the vacant Solid Waste Management District director position.
Assistant County Administrator Joe Fawcett will oversee the operations of the Solid Waste Management District and Wood County Landfill in addition to his duties managing the county budget and working with the county administrator to provide oversight on projects.
The Solid Waste Management District director position was vacated in December 2012 when Ken Rieman announced his retirement.
The commissioners decided not to post the vacancy due to ongoing discussions at the state level regarding possible changes to the law governing solid waste management districts and the possible consolidation of services.
Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer said he plans to convene a meeting July 26 with representatives of the villages of Walbridge and Millbury and cities of Rossford and Northwood to discuss a draft report of a feasibility study of a proposed regional emergency dispatching system.
The report was conducted by RCC Consultants and funded by a state grant.
Chief Hummer said the meeting is being held to garner input from police and fire chiefs on the report and their comments will be forwarded to RCC for its final version.
Lake Township currently provides dispatching service for Rossford, Millbury, and Walbridge. If feasible, one dispatching center would be formed for service including Northwood.
