In honor of Memorial Day, the Toledo Area Humane Society is offering reduced adoption fees on all adult cats and kittens and on several dogs.

Starting on May 23 through Sunday, May 26, all adult cats, kittens and several dogs will all have their adoption fees reduced to $27 for those adopters who donated canned cat and/or dog food to TAHS.  All military personnel and veterans will receive the adoption discount regardless of whether or not they donate canned cat or dog food (must show military ID).

“Kitten season is officially here and we’re up to our whiskers in cats and kittens” said Cyndi Condit, TAHS Marketing/Special Events Manager.  “In honor of Memorial Day weekend, we want to offer reduced adoption fees for our furry friends and help them find a new home so they can spend the holiday weekend with their new loving families.”

The TAHS is in need of donations to help them care for all of the cats and kittens they are taking in.

“Because we are taking in so many cats and kittens every day, we are in great need of canned cat food and other supplies,” said Condit.  In addition to canned cat or dog food (pate-style food preferred), dog and cat treats, new and gently used towels and blankets, and cleaning supplies are greatly appreciated.

The group is also looking for foster volunteers.

“Our care for animals in our community extends beyond our walls and our foster volunteers are a tremendous help in allowing us to care for the cats and kittens we receive during the spring and summer months,” she said. Anyone interested in becoming a foster volunteer can contact the Foster Coordinator at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

The TAHS is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am. To 6 p.m.. For more information, call 419-893-0705 or visit www.toledoareahumanesociety.org or Facebook.com/ToledoHumane.
