Damon named to port authority board
The Wood County Board of Commissioners has appointed Tony Damon, North Baltimore, to the Wood County Port Authority Board of Directors.
Damon's term on the board will be effective until December 31, 2014.
Boards pledge cooperation
Members of the Benton-Carroll-Salem school board met recently with Salem Township trustees.
School superintendent Guy Parmigian, who was appointed to the post this summer, used the get-together to introduce himself to the trustees and pledged to strengthen ties between the school system and community.
He sought their input on the potential sales of Graytown and Carroll schools.
Tim Coffman, district treasurer, said tighter budgets require all local governments to cooperate.
The Ottawa County Board of Elections has set Oct. 9 as the closing date for new voter registration and address changes for the November election.
Special office hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day. Regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the office will be closed Oct. 8.
Starting Oct. 22, hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Nov. 2, the hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
New registrations and changes of address may also be made at public libraries, bureau of motor vehicles offices, the county health department, and the title department and treasurer’s office at the county court house.
Change of addresses may also be completed online at www.MyOhioVote.com.
The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced a State Route 163 culvert replacement project will begin Oct. 1 and conclude Oct. 14, weather permitting.
Route 163, between South Delores Drive and East Sand Road, will be closed for the replacement and the interchange ramp from both directions of State Route 2 and State Route 53 to eastbound 163 (Exit 121B) will be closed.
The detour route is Route 2 to Route 53.
