Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) is welcoming adults interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents to attend its upcoming free training classes.

The agency is currently seeking adults and families who can provide loving and stable homes for teenagers with behavioral, developmental or physical challenges, minor mothers and groups of three or more brothers sisters.

When we were young, most of us were told to “speak up,” to “say what’s on your mind” and to “tell us what you think.” But many of us find that advice hard to follow as we mature. Instead, we hold our silence and end up feeling frustrated or embarrassed because we didn’t express what we really felt or believed.

As the 2009 tax season continues, the Greater Toledo CASH (Creating Assets, Savings & Hope) Coalition wants to remind residents to take advantage of free tax preparation assistance.

According to the CASH Coalition, 11 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites provide free tax preparation to working families throughout Lucas County, encouraging many to take advantage of up to $4,824 in earned income tax credits.
