Free dental services to be offered during “Give Kids a Smile” event

Owens’ Dental Hygiene program, in collaboration with the Toledo Dental Society, will be offering a day of free dental services for children ages six months to 18 years with limited or no access to care Friday, Feb. 7 from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-3:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the college’s Dental Hygiene Clinic located on the second floor of the Health Technologies Hall on the Toledo-area Campus.

Training offered for Wood Co. Volunteer Guardian Program

Since 2011, the Wood County Probate Court has been appointing volunteer guardians to assist those individuals who are unable to make decisions about their welfare on their own behalf.

Volunteers help with making daily life decisions – from the simple to the more complex. Guardianship is defined as a legal relationship established by the Wood County Probate Court in which a person (guardian) is appointed on behalf of another individual declared incompetent by the court (ward).

The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement in Northwest Ohio is asking all women and those who love them to celebrate National Wear Red Day Friday, Feb. 7.

Heart disease is the number-one killer of women – killing more women than all forms of cancer combined. Most women don’t notice the symptoms of heart disease until it’s too late, which is why heart disease has been called the silent killer.
