The Toledo Zoo is known for its animal care, and on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21 the zoo will turn its attention to popular “domesticated” animals at a Teddy Bear Care Fair.

In addition to animal demonstrations and keeper talks, the event offers a special opportunity for kids to bring in their favorite stuffed pals for a check-up (or even a minor repair), the Teddy Bear Care Fair will demonstrate the importance of looking after furry, finned or feathery friends.

Families are invited to join the fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Children can bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed pal to Nature’s Neighborhood, the zoo’s year-round 100 percent explore-able children’s zoo, where they will receive an examination, and perhaps a few small repairs, from a teddy bear care specialist.

Forty energetic students at Fassett Middle School are prepared to transport theatergoers back to the Roaring Twenties with this year’s musical, “Bugsy Malone Jr.,” which will be staged March 26, 27 and 28.

This isn’t your ordinary gangster story – the “sopranos” in this story are really sopranos.

The musical, based on the 1976 movie starring Scott Baio and Jody Foster, is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the Jazz Age, with ice cream served at the speakeasy, and gangsters “spraying” each other with guns that shoot silly string.

It seems Fat Sam (Jacob Harrison), who runs one of the most popular clubs in town, is in danger of being closed down by Dandy Danielle (Alison Susor) and her menacing all-female gang (Danielle Lorenzen, Jessy Bohland, Paige Arman, Shannon Barney, and Cooper Isbell).

Enter baby-faced Bugsy Malone (Maxx Gordon), a killer with the ladies and a definite asset to Fat Sam. Unfortunately, Bugsy has also caught the eye of Sam’s girlfriend Tallulah (Mariah McDougle) - though he’s set his designs on showgirl Blousy Brown (Taylor Daniel).
