What would you do if you found a lost, lonely dog that didn’t have any food, water, or shelter?
As an animal cruelty investigator for the Toledo Area Humane Society, Nancy Schilb, also known as Officer Nan, meets animals like this every day – and the Humane Society does their best to rehabilitate and help these animals find a home.
In March, Officer Schilb is releasing her first children’s book based on her real-life experience, titled “Animal Cop Adventures: Forrest the Hero.” Young readers discover what happens when she rescues Forrest—an abandoned, skinny dog who can barely walk. Forrest goes from forgotten victim to happy, beloved dog to family hero when he later rescues his new owner’s son.
“Forrest the Hero” is a heartwarming story based on a true Toledo Area Humane Society animal cruelty case and teaches children the difference one person—or animal—can make in the life of another.
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available in March through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.
Early copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at three upcoming “Pre-release” parties. Officer Nan will be on hand to discuss and sign copies of her new book, discuss animal cruelty and meet and greet the general public
Upcoming events include Feb. 26 from noon to 4 p.m. at Coffee Gallery, 22 N. Third St., Waterville and
March 3 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Rover Come Over, 3955 Albon Rd., Monclova.
