Festival marks halfway to St. Paddy’s Day

While some may be looking toward the first day of fall, or maybe a little further ahead to Halloween or even Christmas, organizers of an upcoming Elmore event are planning a celebration to commemorate the halfway mark to St. Patrick’s Day.

Rain or shine, The Elmore Irish Fest will be held Sep. 25 from 1 to 8 p.m. in Depot Park. Musical guests will include Twisted Strands, Toraigh and Sally & Friends. There will also be performances by The Ardan Academy of Irish Dance.

The schedule of events for the free, family-friendly event includes:

1 to 7:30 p.m. – Juried vendors, demonstrations, etc. at Depot Park.

1 to 3 p.m.– Traditional Session/Seissiun at Red, White & Blue. Listen in or bring your instruments and join in the fun.

3 to 8 p.m. – Beer and food at the Historical Society Barn provided by the Historical Society and Chamber of Commerce.

2 to 7:30 p.m. – Live entertainment on the main stage at Depot Park. Bring  lawn chairs or blankets for your listening comfort.

Notre Dame fans will be able to view the game during the festival on the Portage Inn’s 110-inch TV. In addition, the Harris-Elmore Public Library will have a in the 1860 cabin for those interested in pursuing Irish genealogy and local Irish history.
