special collection of pastel paintings to raise funds for the Toledo Area Humane Society.
The 12 paintings and set of signed limited-edition prints will be unveiled at the fundraiser’s kickoff July 31. Each painting is a portrait of a cat or dog, including George, the cruelty case cat who was severely burned but has overcome his injuries and left a big impression on the hearts of the humane society staff, volunteers and visitors.
The kickoff will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Laura’s Framing Place, Parkway Plaza, Maumee. Those attending may also visit with adoptable animals from the Toledo Area Humane Society. Donations and sales of the prints will continue online through the humane society’s website.
Booth has committed to posting new pieces to the collection in hopes that the giving never stops.
Prints sell for $35, with $25 of each print benefiting the TAHS. A portion of any sale of an original piece of artwork will also be donated to the group as well.
“Her color combinations are rich and intense, drawing a person right in to the painting,” said Judy McFarland, incoming TAHS board president. “Combined with her free-flowing style, her paintings reflect the emotions felt by the humane society as we serve the people and animals in our community – love, acceptance of differences, sadness and pure joy.”
