The Vail Meadows Equestrian Center, 6118 Cedar Point Rd., Oregon, will host a Barrel Racing and Poles Competition through the Maumee Bay Buckle Series May 15 starting at 12:30 p.m.

All riders are welcome. The horse show is free to the public and includes a silent auction and two 50/50 raffles. All proceeds raised from the benefit will go to help Vail Meadows barn manager Micki Kohler and her family. Micki sustained severe head injuries after being thrown from her horse April 28 at Vail Meadows. She remains hospitalized in intensive care at the Toledo Hospital.

“Micki is a good friend and a wonderful lady who now needs our help,” said show organizer Wally Bell, a co-owner of Vail Meadows. “She has trained horses for more than 25 years and worked extensively with disabled riders, 4-H members, plus Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.”

Bell adds that donations are also being accepted to the Micki Kohler Benefit Fund at First Federal Bank branches in Oregon, Perrysburg and Maumee.
