A Bowling Green State University student’s love for her mom and lack of cash earned her mom top honors in the Alan Miller Jewelers Mother of the Year Contest.
Carolyn Perkins, of Perrysburg, was the winner. Her daughter, Heather Russell’s entry read:
“My mom deserves to win the Alan Miller Jewelers Mother of the Year contest because the only three words she needs to know are ‘I love you.’ She's is a hardworking, 92.5-listening, jewelry-wearing, seafood-loving, limo fanatic woman, who gives but never gets.
Please, choose her as the winner since I cannot buy her this amazing gift on my own due to my poor BGSU student budget!”
Carolyn won the grand prize package of a limo ride to Alan Miller Jewelers for a $500 shopping spree, from there they were treated to lunch at the Real Seafood Company, and then returned home by limo. Carolyn brought her daughter, Heather and six other family members along for the day of shopping and lunch.
The second-place prize, a Seiko watch, was awarded to the Bolander Family from Graytown. Nominations were entered by the Bolander children Everett, Josh, Egan and Jessa.
The third-place prize of a Pandora bracelet was awarded to Maria Rocha, of Oregon.
