The Toledo Zoo is known for its animal care, and on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21 the zoo will turn its attention to popular “domesticated” animals at a Teddy Bear Care Fair.
In addition to animal demonstrations and keeper talks, the event offers a special opportunity for kids to bring in their favorite stuffed pals for a check-up (or even a minor repair), the Teddy Bear Care Fair will demonstrate the importance of looking after furry, finned or feathery friends.
Families are invited to join the fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Children can bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed pal to Nature’s Neighborhood, the zoo’s year-round 100 percent explore-able children’s zoo, where they will receive an examination, and perhaps a few small repairs, from a teddy bear care specialist.
For those who may be ready to take home a real live pet, the Toledo Area Humane Society will be on hand to help them find just the right cat or dog. The adoption area will be in the Great Hall of the zoo’s Museum of Science.
The Toledo Zoo’s Teddy Bear Care Fair is sponsored by Meijer and Wendy’s.
The Toledo Zoo, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, visit www.toledozoo.org or call 419-385-4040.
