Walbridge mom lauded for her love, selflessness

It was a Mother’s Day to remember for Kathy Chlebowski, of Walbridge.

Throughout the years of diapers, homework, teen dating and beyond, every mom hopes her nurturing, encouragement and yes, sometimes even nagging, will someday be appreciated.

Kathy’s daughter, Robin Chlebowski, put her love and appreciation into words in a contest sponsored by Clear Channel Radio and Alan Miller Jewelers.

Her entry, chosen by Alan Miller to be the winner, read:

I would like to nominate my mother Kathy Chlebowski for this contest. Not only has she worked full time as a receptionist since she was 18 years old (she just turned 59) she also cleans two nights a week.

My mother has raised me and my older sister all by herself since we were 5 and 9 years old. (We are now 33 and 37.) Not only did she go through a divorce, she also battled cervical cancer, all while raising two daughters. I know life has not been easy for her and if anyone deserves to win, it’s her!

Recently she got into an accident on the way to work (she was rear-ended) and she is still waiting for her car to be fixed correctly. Having never been in an accident, she was petrified! I just feel like my mother finally deserves a break.

Can you help? She listens to your station every day! I honestly cannot think of anyone more deserving!”

Kathy won a $500 shopping spree at Alan Miller’s, lunch at Max & Erma’s and a limousine ride from Limo Toledo.
