What began as a Toledo-area radio “experiment” celebrates its 15th anniversary Aug. 4.

K100’s (WKKO-99.9FM) morning radio team of Gary Shores and Harvey J. Steele will mark 15 years as a team, and they continue as Toledo’s current longest-running continuous morning team on air from 5-10 a.m. on K100.

The “experiment” was to pair Shores and Steele as an afternoon team, a first for Toledo music-oriented stations, in the summer of 1994.

Gary Shores, longtime K100 program director, and Harvey J. Steele, assistant program director, started their 3-6 p.m. show, and through thick and thin, sickness and health, they have maintained a consistent number-one rating. Just a year into their pairing, Shores & Steele won the coveted Air Personality of the Year Award from the Country Music Association.
