The Toledo Zoo is inviting area moms to enjoy a day of wild fun Mother’s Day, May 13.
All moms accompanied by one or more children will receive free admission. Highlights of the day will include free crafts in Nature’s Neighborhood from 12 to 3 p.m., so the kids can decorate a nifty Mother’s Day mini-basket on the spot.
Plus, there’s all the fun the zoo has to offer – including some marvelous animal moms, from Marta the Amur tiger and Renee the African elephant to Fanta and Fresca the ring-tailed lemurs. The Mother’s Day Celebration is sponsored by Meijer.
In addition, the Zoo hosts a full-service Mother’s Day brunch in the historic African Lodge (prepaid reservations only). Times, prices and menu details are available at toledozoo.org. Reserve a spot by calling 419-385-5721, ext. 6001.
And mark your calendar for a return visit to the zoo May 18 to 20, when the innovative new elephant exhibit, Tembo Trail, opens. It’s all made possible by the 2006 Lucas County capital levy voters, along with contributors to the Zoo’s capital campaign.
The Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Starting May 5, weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit toledozoo.org or call 419-385-4040.
Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. Valid ID showing proof of residency is required.
