This holiday season, Samsen Furniture in Genoa will host the seventh annual “Decoration Multiplication,” an event designed to benefit local schools and needy families.

“Decoration Multiplication” starts with local schools each decorating a tree with handmade ornaments. Samsen Furniture will set up the lighted trees, each donated by a local businesses, and invite students from each school to come in and decorate a tree. The decorated trees will be on display at Samsen beginning Nov. 11. Each of the 10 participating schools will receive a $100 donation from Samsen.
The kickoff Nov. 11 begins a month long campaign with local media partners to determine the “best” tree. The public will be invited to stop in and vote for their favorite tree by placing a non-perishable food item next to the tree of their choice.

The tree receiving the most votes as of Dec. 9 will be declared the winner and the decorators’ school  will receive a $300 donation from Samsen Furniture. The second-place winning school will receive $100.

The food and other non-perishable items collected beneath each tree will be delivered by Samsen Furniture trucks to food banks chosen by the participating schools. Last year, more than 30,000 non-perishable items were donated to six different local food pantries.
