Barney & Friends rolling into the area for a Birthday Bash Join the lovable, huggable Barney and his friends for a festive birthday Bash Nov. 13 at the Bowling Green State University Stroh Center, 1535 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green.
Showtimes are 1 and 4:30 p.m. The “super-dee-duper” live stage concert features more than 25 fund and upbeat singalong tunes including favorites such as “Mr. Knickerbocker,” “Dino Dance” and “Baby Bop.” Like television’s Emmy-award winning series “Barney & Friends,” the production encourages sharing, caring and imagination through the power of song, dance and the beloved cast of characters.

Auditions set Oregon Community Theatre is holding auditions for its upcoming production of Sylvia” Nov. 7 and 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fassett Middle School Auditorium, 3025 Starr Ave., Oregon.
Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. The show will be staged Feb. 17-19 and 24-25, 2012.

Kielbasa Dinner & Heritage presentation
The Polish-American Community of Toledo (PACT) will sponsor a “Kings” Kielbasa Dinner and Polish Heritage Presentation Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Olivet Lutheran Church – Christian Life Center, 5840 Monroe St., Sylvania. The dinner will feature homemade kielbasa from the winners of the 2010 and 2011 Kielbasa Cook-Off. The highlight of the evening will be a special appearance by author and journalist, Ed Zawadzki, from Toronto, Ontario Canada.
Zawadzki is the author of the book “Poles in the New World,” which looks at the lives and contributions of 50 of the most famous Poles in North America.

Wildlife Refuge plans events The Ottawa National Wildlife, located at 14000 W. SR 2, Oak Harbor, will host a series of special events in November. They include:
Nov. 5: Refuge Family Star Party, 8 to 10 p.m. Join refuge staff and volunteers, as well as members of the Toledo Astronomical Association, to learn about the night sky and constellations. Dress to be outdoors. Free and open to the public. To register, please call 419-898-0014.
Nov. 13: Naturally Speaking: “The Natural History of Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau,” 2 p.m. Learn about the vast wildlife diversity and beautiful landscape of the world’s longest hardwood forested plateau. Dr. Sean Blomquist, Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will share photos of birds, plants, fish, mussels, salamanders, fungi, and other species, and fascinating facts and natural history of Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau. Nov. 13: Refuge Auto Tour, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drive at your own pace along the well-marked route through seven miles of the refuge that are normally closed to the public. Stop at the Visitor’s Center and explore hands-on exhibits and watch a short film about the natural and cultural history of the Lake Erie marsh ecosystem and the Great Black Swamp.

Children’s theatre forming A new Children’s Theatre will be offered beginning in January at Le Chat Noir Studio, located inside InProcess Studio at the Great Eastern Shopping Center, 2662 Woodville Rd., Northwood.
The Black Cat Theatre I for “Kittens” (age 6-9) will be offered Wednesdays from 4 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 4, 2012. The program is an introduction to theatre, with exploration of the imagination with games and activities.
Black Cat Theatre II for “Young Cats (age10-13) will meet Wednesdays from 5 to 5:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 4. The workshop will include drama- and comedy-based activities designed to introduce older kids to the world of theatre, focusing on set development, developing a character and the dynamics between actor and audience.

CAC mourns death of interim director The Collingwood Arts Center is mourning the death of Interim Executive Director Brian K. Felster. Felster passed away Oct. 29. He had served in his current position since August 2010, and had been employed by the arts center since 2005.
Originally from Fair Haven, Mich., Felster was born on March 4, 1963. He attended both Macomb Community College and Owens Community College. The Arts Center’s staff is currently planning a memorial event.
