The Elmore Historical Society and A.B.A.T.E. of Ohio Region # 7 are putting the final touches on plans for the 15th annual Grub ‘n Suds Motorcycle Rally, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Depot Park in Elmore.
Kicking off the day’s festivities will be the popular A.B.A.T.E. “Headless Motorcycle Poker Run.” Registration for the poker run will being at 10 a.m. at Depot Park. The first 200 hundred registrants will receive a free 2011 edition of the Grub ‘n Suds collector’s mug.
Public judging for the A.B.A.T.E. Bike Show also begins at 10 a.m. Motorcycles will be judged in six classes – custom, historical, cruisers, sport, rat and touring. Winners of each class will be showcased in the “Parade of Champions,” which will be held during the band break between 3 and 5 p.m. at the stage.
Rockin’ music has always been a hallmark of the Grub ‘n Suds events and this year, “Old School” will have partygoers dancing in the aisles with their eclectic mix of rock `n roll and classic rock from noon to 3 p.m.
One of the biggest draws of the Grub ‘n Suds every year is the A.B.A.T.E. Bike Games, which will be held between band performances from 3 to 5 p.m. There is always a lot of fun for participants and spectators as riders participate in the “Bite the Dog,” “Potato in the Straw,” “Slow Rider,” “Egg Drop” and “Keg Roll” contests.
After the bike games, raffle drawings and the “Parade of Champions,” the party will amp up as the band “Rizen” takes the stage, playing an exciting mix of classic rock and country.
In addition, Tammy Tolliver-Harder, the winner of the 2010 “Fremont’s Got Talent” contest, will make a special guest appearance, performing a mix of special music she has put together specially for Grub ‘n Suds. Tammy will perform between sets from the beginning of the day’s events until closing.
Great food is always a staple at Grub ‘n Suds events and this year’s offerings include grilled burgers, fresh hand-cut French Fries, hot dogs, Coney dogs, cole slaw, baked beans, pop and homemade pies. As always, ice cold beer by the glass or pitcher will be on tap.
Vendors will also be at the park selling everything from jewelry to leather products. Also on display will be the new 2012 motorcycle models.
