The calendar may say July, but it will be looking a lot like Christmas in Pemberville during the annual Christmas in July celebration July 7 to 9.
Area merchants will host a number of holiday happenings, beginning with Christmas in July Cruisin’ hosted by Pemberville’s Independent Merchants Association Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Free registration will begin at 5 p.m. at Eisenhour Motors, with the first 100 participants receiving a complimentary gift. Complimentary keepsake Christmas photos will be taken of owners and their registered vehicles and door prizes will be awarded at the close of the show. Local eateries and shops will be open until 8 p.m. for the event.
Throughout the three days, Beeker’s General Store will host its traditional Christmas in July “Open House” featuring artisans and vendors, including heirloom Santa artist Cheri Schraidt and Dennis Bauer’s German feather trees. In addition, Linda Follman, antique Christmas collector/dealer, will display her candy containers, German and Japanese Santas, vintage ornaments and more.
Beeker’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream will offer sweet treats curbside, including kettle corn, hand-dipped ice cream and old-fashioned French waffles.
Riverbank Antique Market will feature an assortment of vintage Christmas decorations and collectibles for sale. Other “holiday” happenings and specials will be offered at the Country Mercantile, Forks Restaurant, Pemberville Drug Store, Front Street Café & Janelle’s Diner.
Two hands-on workshops will be offered Saturday at 9 a.m. Bauer will lead a class on feather trees, in which each participant will complete an 18-inch tree. The fee is $30, which includes all materials.
Pat Rollins of Glass Art Studio will lead a copper foil-technique glass ornament class as well. Each participant will complete an ornament of his/her choosing in approximately two to three hours. All materials are included in the fee, which is $25.
Pre-registration required for both classes. Call Beeker’s at 419-287-3274 to register or obtain more information. Space is limited for both classes.
