Northwood High School to stage “Cinderella” Northwood High School will present the Rodgers & Hammerstein Classic, “Cinderella,” March 11, 12 and 13.
The story follows Cinderella (Holly Slater), who serves as a maid to her stepmother (Jenny Saenz) and two step-sisters (Nichole Davenport and Marissa Ramirez), and the prince (Ben Slaughterbeck) who tries to find the girl who fits the slipper.
The show will be presented in the high school auditorium. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
All seats are reserved. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. They’re available weekdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school lobby or one hour before the show at the door.

Dinner & a Show A Dinner & a Show Fundraiser will be presented by Clay Limelighters and the Northwest Ohio Culinary Arts Institute March 26 at Clay High School.
A chicken and meatloaf dinner will be served family-style with seating at 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. before the Limelighters’ production of “Bye Bye Birdie” at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 and may be reserved by calling Greg Hook at 419-283-6634. Proceeds will help fund Limelighter scholarships.
International Festival The Toledo Sister Cities International Festival will be held Saturday, March 26, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Erie Street Market Civic Center Promenade, 237 South Erie St., Toledo.
The festival will feature a Parade of Nations, more than 20 performance groups, a beer hall, food vendors from local restaurants and kids’ activities.

Backyard Astronomy A program on Backyard Astronomy will be presented March 15 at 7:30 p.m., at the Lake Erie Center of the University of Toledo, 6200 Bayshore Rd. Oregon.
The program, sponsored by the Toledo Astronomical Association in cooperation with the Lake Erie Center, is not weather-dependent and will proceed even if skies aren’t clear. The early spring sky and techniques for viewing will be discussed.

The Toledo Astronomical Association is a group of amateurs interested in all facets of astronomy.
Flywheel Genoa Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Main and 4th Street, will have a public showing of the film “Flywheel” March 11 at 7 p.m.
The free film will be shown on the large screen in the sanctuary. “Flywheel” is produced by the same company that made “Fireproof” and “Facing the Giants.” All are invited to the family-friendly film.
Cinema U WBGU-TV has announced the addition of “Cinema U” to its local programming schedule.
The series promises fresh content featuring 22 short films by local filmmaking talent from Bowling Green State University and area high school students.
A recent episode featured Oregon native and current BGSU Digital Arts student Zach Esposito’s short film, a 3-D Animation called “Character Wants Hat.” Each episode airs short films across genres including film noir, 2-D and 3-D animation, thrillers, stop-motion animation, experimental, avant-garde, and drama.
A panel of TV and film faculty members selected by WBGU-TV and its partners will view and judge all video entries and select a “Best Picture” award.

Dance, dance, dance The Northwest Ohio Dance Club will hold a dance March 12 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Toledo Yacht Club, 3900 N. Summit St. Toledo.
Singles and couples are welcome to the dance, which will include Swing, Hustle, Latin, Ballroom, Country-Western, and Line Dancing on the club’s hardwood dance floor. Admission is $5 for members and $10 for event members.
Before the dance, Foxtrot lessons will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. with guest instructor Alfredo Horna at a cost of $5 for members and $7 for event members.

Watercolor workshop set PRIZM Creative Community invites both members and non-members to a Watercolor Workshop with artist instructor Dr. Arthur Mancini at the Schaller Memorial Building, 130 West Indiana Ave., Perrysburg starting Thursday March 9 and meeting weekly through March 31.
Separate noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. sessions are planned.
Cost for either four week session is $55 for PRIZM members and $70 for guests. Individuals can state their preference for attendance time, leave their contact information for class preparation, and receive a supply list by contacting Workshop Chairman Kitty Pattay at 419-874-5210. Safari time! African Safari Wildlife Park opened for the 2011 season March 3.
Early-season guests can see and interact with featured Northern climate animals such as elk, bison and deer. The tropical animals such as giraffe, zebra, giant eland and other exotics have left for warmer climates but will return in May.
For the inconvenience, the park is offering a Cold Cash reduced rate of admission of $5 per person weekdays through March 18. Mention the code “Cold Cash” at the admission register. Admission includes a cup of feed for the animals.
African Safari Wildlife Park is open from Dec. 4. The full park schedule is from Memorial Day weekend (May 27) thru Labor Day weekend (Sept. 5). During this time, the hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last car admitted at 6 p.m.

Schuhplattler with the Stars You’ve seen them entertaining at German-American Festival –chopping wood in time to music, spinning around, flapping their arms wildly and performing on the Glockenspiel above the Wein Bar.
Take part in the first-ever “Plattelin with the Stars” competition. Three male and three female “dancers” are being sought to compete with “Schuhplattler pros” in a competition based upon the popular TV show.
Entrants will receive four 30- minute lessons before the competition. The winners will hold the rights to call themselves an “Honorary Schuhplattler” and will receive a tacky trophy to match.
In addition, the lucky winners will have the opportunity to show their winning form with the Holzhacker on the Glockenspiel at this year’s German-American Festival.
The competition will take place at the Holzhacker Buam’s annual Schuhplattler Dance April 9 at Oak Shade Hall, home of the German-American Festival, in Oregon.
