Pemberville hosting a celebration for the LOVE of art

Pemberville’s annual exhibition/art walk, “For the LOVE of Art,” will be held Feb. 12 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Area High School students and graduates from the past three years have been invited to enter the show, which will be held at the Pemberville Opera House.

The show will feature more than 200 pieces. Admission is free.

Acclaimed artist Emmanuel Enriquez will serve as judge for this year’s show with awards that include Best of Show and first-, second- and third-place honors. Winners will receive rosettes, along with cash prizes given by the Pemberville Opera House. Area musicians will perform in the Opera House Gallery throughout the show, providing entertainment on the Irish flute, guitar and piano.

On both Saturdays, local businesses will be hosting artists and offering their windows and store fronts for artistic displays,

Among the artists who will be participating in this event are Janet Davies (watercolors), Wilma Ablett (mixed media), Vickie Hoffman (beaded and wirework jewelry), Kelsey Rollins (photography), Mike Sayen (pen art), Rebecca Hendershott (silver jewelry art), Linda Henry (dried floral art), Pat Rollins (glass art), Helen Hoover (doodle art), Debbie Walters (postcard art) and Judy Kline (Valentine art).

Participating businesses/locations include Union Bank, Riverbank Antiques, The Elementary Art Gallery, Forks Restaurant,  Home Town Realty, Beeker’s General Store, Medicine Shoppe, Samson & Smith Insurance and Town Hall Council Chambers.

On Feb. 12, Riverbank Antique Market will host Bruce Hanny, coin collector/dealer who will be offering insight/valuation of coins from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Funky art” poles located curbside will highlight the various businesses/locations showcasing the various artists/artwork.

The area’s youngest artists will also have the opportunity to participate. Elementary artwork will be displayed downtown at 208 E. Front St., while preschool artwork will be displayed at the Pemberville Public Library.

On Feb. 12, there will be a Coffee Gallery in the Town Hall Council Chambers, where Java Sensations will provide unique coffee blends. On Feb. 19, the Gallery will be hosted by April Wight of The PeTEAte Parlour, who will offer a variety of tea blends.

Pemberville’s For the Love of Art is sponsored by the Pemberville Opera House and businesses that desire to support and promote the arts.
