This holiday season, make it a December to remember
As we welcome in December, it seems our “spare” time is consumed with decking the halls, shopping, wrapping, baking and other tasks, but there are so many things to do and enjoy throughout the holiday season, don’t forget to take time to have some fun and make it a December to truly remember.

Through Dec. 10: Eighth Annual Faculty Exhibition, Walter E. Terhune Gallery, Owens Community College Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Perrysburg. View the artwork of some of Northwest Ohio's best visual artists. Through Dec. 18: Photos in the “Celebrating Nature Through Photography Contest,” on display at the National Center for Nature Photography, Secor Metropark, Central Avenue, Toledo. Six hundred-plus entries are on display.

Through Dec. 31: Lights Before Christmas 25th Anniversary, Toledo Zoo, 2 Hippo Way, Toledo. During the holiday season, the zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland featuring over one million lights, ice-carving demonstrations on Thursday evenings, carolers, holiday treats, model trains and visits with Santa in the Indoor Theatre. www.toledozoo.org or 419-385-4040.

Through Dec. 31: Christmas Light Show & 3D Wonderland, Ghostly Manor Thrill Center, 3319 Milan Rd. (US 250), Sandusky. Take a trip to the North Pole and visit Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and their holiday helpers in the comfort of the indoor family entertainment complex. Through Jan 9, 2011: Hayes Train Special, Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center, Fremont. The spirit of holidays past is revived in this 12x24-foot, three-tier miniature train layout featuring eight G- and O-gauge trains. Through Feb. 13, 2011: Inspired Giving: The Apollo Society’s 25th Anniversary Exhibition, Canaday Gallery, Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St., Toledo. An exhibition celebrating the contributions of the Apollo Society donor group to the Toledo Museum of Art’s permanent collection, paying tribute to their gifts as a whole as well as to the individual works of art. www.toledomuseum.org or 419-255-8000.

Through Feb. 27, 2011: Life in Miniature: Ceramic Netusuke from the Silverman Collection, Gallery 18, Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St., Toledo. Hayes using the mode of transportation he used - a horse-drawn sleigh. Rides are provided by South Creek Clydesdales of Fremont.
