Music lovers are invited to take a sweet trip down Memory Lane as The Pemberville Opera House welcomes Damion Fontaine and Scott Brotherton Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Live in the House! series

Whether it's a classic like “Fly Me to the Moon” or something more recent like Neil Diamond's “Sweet Caroline” it's always a party with the duo, who has been wowing crowds from coast to coast with their talents.

As “Frank & Dean,” they capture the fun, the jokes and the timeless music of the Rat Pack. They also celebrate the music of Bobby Darin, Joe Cocker, Elvis, The Blues Brothers, Neil Diamond, and much more.

Photography basics 
Could your photography skills use some improvement? Photographer Amy Hansen will offer tips at a free program Nov. 2 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Oregon Branch Library, 3340 Dustin Rd., Oregon.

Hansen will discuss short and long lenses and point-and-shoot cameras. She’ll also demonstrate the composition of a photo, lighting, F-stops and how to create photos that evoke emotion.

Juggling extravaganza
The Bowling Green State University Juggling Club will present a Juggling Festival Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the student union, room 206.

The headliner will be world-class juggler Jason Garfield and founder and president of the World Juggling Association. Other guests will include Doug Sayers, Joe Showers and many more. The evening will include a juggling demonstration, along with educational and humorous commentary.

Open juggling will be held Nov. 6 and 7 at the BGSU Perry Field House.


Here comes Santa Claus 
St. Nicholas will be visiting the historic Brandville School, at the Oregon-Jerusalem Historical Society complex with his horse and sleigh on Sunday, Nov. 21 from noon to 3 p.m.

The cost for photos is $6 for one person and $1 for each additional person. Extra prints are available for $3.

To add to the festivities, guided tours of the complex will be available and from noon to 5 p.m., visit “Christmas in the Carriage House,” where gently-used Christmas decorations from by-gone times will be available for purchase at reasonable prices.

Brandville School is located at 1133 Grasser St., Oregon.

The Oregon-Northwood Rotary Club will sponsor their annual Breakfast with Santa community service event Dec. 4 in the cafeteria at Clay High School, 5665 Seaman Rd., Oregon.

The festivities will get under way at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. Kids will have the opportunity to make a holiday craft, visit the story corner, tell Santa their wishes for Christmas and to have their photos taken.

Tickets are $3 per person and will be available at the door. Net proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the Oregon Health and Welfare Christmas Basket Campaign.

“White Christmas”
Oregon Community Theatre will present “White Christmas” Nov. 5 and 6  and Nov. 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. in the auditorium at Fassett Middle School, 3025 Starr Ave., Oregon.

Calling all carvers
Friends of Magee Marsh Wildlife Area invites area woodcarvers to submit a carved feather to be judged at Wooden Feather Day, which will be held Nov. 28.

Winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive an award ribbon and a cash prize.

Wooden Feather Day is held in partnership with the Maumee Bay Carvers and the Friends of Magee Marsh. Any carved wood wild bird feather is suitable for entry. There is no entry fee. Feathers should be brought to the Bird Center at the marsh, located at 13229 W. SR 2, Oak Harbor, by noon Nov. 28.

In addition to the wooden carvings, the festival will include a warm fire, a marsh walk and refreshments. For more information, call Mary at 419-898-0960, ext. 31.
