Fall is here and while you may be thinking about packing away your shorts and flip-flops, don’t fret. You’ll find bountiful fun lurking at local festivals, exhibits and events. Here’s a sampling of what’s going on in October:

Through Oct. 31: Country Lane Tree Farm’s 2010 Twilight Eclipse Corn Maze, 3525 N. Bolander Rd., Genoa. Eighteen acres of family Halloween fun including Twilight Eclipse corn maze (Team Edward and Team Jacob). Hours are Monday through Friday. 4 p.m. to dark; Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to dark. Through Oct. 31: Haunted Hydro Dark Attraction Park, 1331 Tiffin St., Fremont. A full Halloween Attraction Park built in and around a 1911 Hydro Electric Power Plant that was used by the city of Fremont until 1943.The park features two professional Haunted Houses, including stage entertainment, gift shop, vendors, concessions and more. Weekends in October: HalloWeekends, Cedar Point amusement Park, Sandusky. Creatures of the night come alive at this annual celebration of spooks and screams. Through Oct. 31: Terrortown, located at the Lucas County Fairgrounds, 1406 Key Street, Maumee. The haunting season has come and the Lucas County Fairgrounds will be once again twisted into a mangled realm of sheer terror as TerrorTown returns. Through Feb. 27, 2011: Life in Miniature: Ceramic Netsuke from the Silverman Collection, Toledo Museum of Art, Gallery 18, 2445 Monroe St., Toledo. An exploration of the iconography of netsuke, miniature sculptures used as fasteners for luxury-loving Japanese citizens to attach inro (cases) to their elaborate silk clothing. Oct. 2-3: Civil War Re-Enactment, Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center, Fremont. Step back in time to the days of America’s Civil War.
