Twenty-seven juried pieces by 15 local artists tell the stories of cancer patients, their caregivers, family and friends in the unique exhibition that depicts the cancer experience from various perspectives.
The exhibit will be documented in a book to be composed by Jean Schoen, of CCNWO, and Jennifer Balogh, of Mercy Cancer Center’s Art of Healing Program.
CCNWO is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that aims to connect cancer patients, their families and caregivers to existing resources in the community, while researching the need for implementation of additional resources. In addition to a food pantry, participation in Scott Hamilton’s 4th Angel Mentoring Program, and providing temporary housing for cancer patients, CCNWO offers personalized cancer patient support through the Hand-in-Hand Program.
“By seeing the unique perspectives of those experiencing the cancer journey, we can better understand how the community can support those who are touched by cancer,” said Jean Schoen, Founder and President of CCNWO. “The submissions we received from the local community are truly touching and inspiring. I feel grateful that we are able to showcase these pieces through a partnership with the Toledo Museum of Art.”
