A new business opened its doors in downtown Genoa on May 21.
Located at 6546 Main St., Latte’da offers a comfortable atmosphere with a quaint hometown feel, as well as a beverage and food menu.
Co-owner Jenifer Delventhal said, “I was working at Genoa Medical Center and just got burnt out. This building became available, and I said I wanted to open a coffee shop, everyone thought I was joking.”
It was easy for Jenifer to convince her friend and co-owner, Holly Sondereld who was on maternity leave at the time, to quit her job and open the establishment with her.
From the new floor and walls, to the artwork and table décor, the women have had all the work completed by local businesses.
Displayed in the hallway is artwork by high school students and ceramics by local artist Jan Pugh sit on each table. Another local artist designed paintings displayed in the main dining area.
As for the menu at Latte’da, it consists of a variety of hot, cold and blended coffees. Muffins, scones and cookies are made by Jenifer’s mother Kim, daily.
“The food menu will be changing every week,” Jenifer said. “We will have some staples such as tomato basil soup, grilled cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.”
Latte’da also offers drinks for the youngsters such as smoothies.
A garden at the rear of the building is open to customers, but the long-term plan is to change the landscaping to fit tables and chairs for outdoor seating.
Latte’da is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Closed Sunday. Hours will be extended for special downtown events.
