Just about everyone is familiar with what happened when Dorothy – and her

little dog, too – was transported on her whirlwind adventure to Oz.

But long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz.

One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.

“Wicked” is the story of their remarkable odyssey and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

The musical, the most anticipated musical production of the 2009-2010 Lincoln Mercury Broadway Series, landed at the Stranahan Theater March 31 and will run through April 18.

Called “a cultural phenomenon” by “Variety” and recently named “the defining musical of the decade” by “The New York Times,” “Wicked” is based on the 1995 best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire.

This tour features Napoleon, O. native Zach Hanna (Boq). Hanna attended the Boston Conservatory and has performed in the National tours “Copacabana” (Tony) and “Altar Boyz” (Mark). He is thrilled to be returning to his home state of Ohio as a cast member of this internationally acclaimed hit, he says.

"Audiences from Toledo and around the region have been asking for WICKED since the show opened on Broadway," said Theater League President Mark Edelman. "We're thrilled to bring this wonderful musical to the Stranahan, where the huge touring production will take up just about every square inch of the stage. It's an amazing show."

Tickets, which have been flying out the door, range from $38 to $128 plus handling fees, and are available online at www.theaterleague.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com/wicked or by calling 800-745-3000.

Feeling lucky? A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held daily for “Wicked.” Each day, 2½ hours prior to show time, people who go to the Stranahan Theater box office can place their names in a lottery drum and then 30 minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person.
