Soul Street Dance Company’s unique style of dance, which

keep attendees on the edge of their seats in amazement.

part entertainment and art as Owens Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts welcomes the Soul Street Dance Company Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre.
“Owens Community College is proud to welcome one of the country’s leading dance touring groups to Northwest Ohio,” said Barbara Barkan, Owens operations manager for the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. “Soul Street Dance Company is known for captivating audiences with their unique style of dance, which features an array of gravity-defying moves. Attendees will be on the edge of their seats in amazement of the group’s skills.”
Founded in 1996, Soul Street Dance Company is comprised of five professional performers who have mastered the art of dance ranging from Brazil’s capoeira to New York City-style break dancing. Based in Houston, the group features a variety of dance styles and selections, including a mix of hip-hop, classical and new dance styles with urban-fashioned costumes and comic delivery.
Among the musical selections accompanying each Soul Session Dance Concert are songs from Michael Jackson, James Brown, Leonard Bernstein, Nat “King” Cole and Earth, Wind and Fire.
Soul Street Dance Company has entertained audiences worldwide and has made appearances at such prestigious venues as the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., among many other locations.
