Tickets available for Holiday Tour of Distinctive Homes

Oregon-Jerusalem Historical Society is putting a different focus on the biennial home tour this year.

The event, “Holiday Tour of Distinctive Homes” will feature seven area homes, including a stone craftsman house, a log house, an upright and wing farm house, a Dutch colonial farm house, a granary converted to a honeymoon cottage, a Southwestern style and an Italianate home.

The tours will be open to the public Saturday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 6 with tours scheduled every 15 minutes from noon to 4 p.m.. They will start at the Brandville School, part of the OJHS complex, at 1133 Grasser St. (behind Fire Station #2).

Advance tickets are $10, at the door $12. Complimentary refreshments will be available at Brandville. Reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling Wanda at 419-691-8328 or Connie at 419-693-2956.

The Dosch house, built by James Messer and his wife Lillian in 1875 for $1,200, has been described by the National Registry of Historic Places as the finest example of Italianate architecture in our area.
