Members of the community are invited to come and celebrate the history and join in the fun at the 75th Anniversary of Pearson Park Sunday Aug. 30 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Step back into time with authentic interpretations of the Johlin Cabin and presentations by area historians. Enjoy the pedal boats, model boat exhibitions, classic/antique/muscle cars and hot rods, the ever-popular Pearson Friends Ice Cream Social, music and fun for all ages.

The day’s schedule of events includes:

Johlin Cabin and Pearson North Dedication – 2 p.m. Entertainment by Cardinal Stritch High School Band; recognition of donors, Metroparks, Johlin family and Oregon dignitaries; followed by historic interpretations of cabin until 6 p.m.

2-6 p.m.: Packer Hammersmith Center Area
• Maumee Valley Model Boat Exhibition
• Classic, Hot Rod, Antique & Muscle Car Show 
• Family games, activities, paddle boats and nature walks
• Intermittent Black Swamp Frogs Base Ball Game Exhibition
• Friends of Pearson Ice Cream Social (fee involved)
• Entertainment by Tim Oehlers on the guitar, 3-4 p.m. and Lyle Crots, saw player from 4-5 p.m.
• The Velvetone Choraliers entertain from 3-4 p.m.  
• Historic presentations by Fred Folger and Larry Michaels from 3-5 p.m.
• Entertainment by Kirbys from 4-5 p.m.
• Historic presentation by Metroparks History Staff 5-6 p.m.

Refreshments will be available. Offsite parking will be available at the Lucas County Challenger Center on Seaman Street and the Sacred Heart Home on Navarre Avenue.
