The Pemberville Opera House “Live in the House” Concert Series will present “An Evening with Legends” Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

“An Evening With Legends” features actors Michael and Jacqueline Hurwitz, from the Columbus area, who portray two pivotal characters in U.S. history - President Abraham Lincoln and Harriet Beecher Stowe. The program will feature a meeting between the two in the Lincoln White House. (Although few realize it, Lincoln basically blamed Stowe for the Civil War due to her writing of Uncle Tom’s Cabin.)

They will discuss the life and times and the problems of the day. The program will also include readings of actual letters to parents of lost soldiers by Mr. Lincoln, plus writings and speeches, among other highlights.

The presentation is sure to be of interest for anyone who is a history buff as this February we will celebrate Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Beeker’s General Store or by calling Carol at 419-287-4848.

Just before the show, the Historical Society will host an Old Fashioned Roast Beef Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the fire hall across the street from the Opera House. Open to the public, this dinner will feature roast beef and all the trimmings as well as homemade pies. The cost is $8.
