Puddle Jumpers: Awesome Owls: Dec 4, 10 a.m. 10 a.m., Countryside Park/Main Office, 1970 Countryside Place in the County Office Complex. Ages 5 and under with an adult companion are invited to learn about owls common to the area.

Get a close-up look at nocturnal feathered friends. Free. Registration required. Park District's 35th Anniversary: Dec. 7. It’s not just one day of celebration. Here are numbers to be proud of:

6,000 programs since 1973
700,000 swimmers since 1980
280,000 scuba Divers since 1980

In honor of the 35th anniversary, stop by the Park District Office, located at 1970 Countryside Place, Fremont in December and receive a free water bottle, excellent to use while walking or biking Park District trails. (while supplies last) For more information, call 419-334-4495.

Christmas For Kids: Dec. 13, 2 p.m., White Star Park Log Cabin. $5 fee per person. Ages 8 to 15 years are invited to come out to the cabin for an old-time celebration. Learn about the history of Christmas, make an ornament to take home, and enjoy a cookie snack. Registration required by calling 1-888-200-5577.

Trail and bench sponsorships available: The Sandusky County Park District is offering an opportunity to be a partner on the new Bike Trail project.

The Fremont-Lindsey-Elmore Section of the North Coast Inland Trail is in need of “Adopt-A-Trail” sponsors, groups that will do periodic clean-up on a specific section of the trail for a designated time period. Groups will be identified by signs on their trail section.

“Bench sponsorship” is also available at two price levels: $150 for a single bench with concrete pad; $1,000 for a covered bench with a concrete pad – all constructed by park personnel. Each bench sponsor will be recognized by having the name of their choice placed on the bench.
