The Toledo Zoo will kick off the holiday season with the delightful Fisher-Price Little People Live Holiday Show, Saturday and Sunday Nov. 10 and 11 in the Zoo’s Indoor Theatre.

The musical presentation, free with your regular Toledo Zoo admission, promises fun for the whole family, including singing, dancing and Yuletide surprises. Little People, Eddie, Sonya Lee and Michael will share the joy of friendship as they discover the true meaning of the holiday season.

Show times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Seating is limited. Theatre doors will open 30 minutes before show time.

This year, the Fisher-Price Little People Live Holiday Show is just the beginning to the festivities planned for the Zoo’s “sparkling season.”

On Friday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m., the Zoo will light its 85-foot Norway Spruce with more than 35,000 LED lights – more than the famous tree in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. Last year, Travelocity named the Zoo’s “Big Tree” one of the top five holiday trees in the U.S.

The lighting ceremony will kick of the annual Lights Before Christmas display presented by KeyBank. On top of more than one million lights, visitors can enjoy hot chocolate and other holiday treats, carolers and ice-carving demonstrations on selected evenings, and (weather permitting) rides on the Safari Railway and African Animal Carousel. The jolly old elf will hear children’s wishes in the Indoor Theatre through Dec. 23.

New this year will be Winter Playland activities sponsored by Taylor Automotive Family. Attractions, which will operate near the Main Plaza from 5 p.m. until close during the Lights Before Christmas, will include a Giant Rocking Horse standing over 15 feet tall ($1 per rider); Snowzilla, a thrilling winter ride on our the zoo’s artificial ice tube slide (available beginning Dec. 6, tickets $1.50 per rider); and Snow Globe Live! – a chance to get a photo taken inside the Zoo’s life-size snow globe (photo purchase required).

The Lights Before Christmas runs Nov. 16-Dec. 31 (closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) Sunday through Thursday 3 to 8 p.m. (Zoo closes at 9 p.m.) and Friday and Saturday 3 to 9 p.m. (Zoo closes at 10 p.m.).

Admission is $12 for ages 12-59, $9 for seniors age 60 and older and children 2-11. Children under 2 are admitted free. Purchase a ticket online and receive a $1. Tickets are also available at KeyBank locations throughout Toledo.

Zoo members can enjoy unlimited Monday through Thursday Lights Before Christmas visits with a valid membership card.  Members will still receive only one weekend visit Friday through Sunday.
